Heart & Mind
Volume 22 No 1 | Winter 2008-2009
Tom and Amy Wiegand serve as members of the New Wineskins Executive Advisory Council, and Tom is also a 2008 M.Div. graduate. “In 2003, I was transitioning from the business world to the ministry,” Tom says, “and I was looking for a basic theological education for the pastorate. Leith Anderson [senior pastor of Wooddale Church, Eden Prairie, Minn., and former chair of the Bethel University Board of Trustees] suggested that I go to Bethel. In my years at Bethel I got that theological education, but so much more.”
“Today the word ‘transformation’ is so heavily used,” Tom continues, “but I was truly transformed at Bethel. God used the faculty, staff, and students to draw me to Himself and reveal to me the depth of who He is. The question for Amy and me is not ‘Should we support Bethel Seminary?’ but ‘What will God do with the part we play in His work through Bethel?’ Being a small part of the hundreds of kingdom workers who are sent out each year is a privilege and reflects how we think our treasure should be invested.”
The New Wineskins Initiative is a network of alumni and friends of Bethel Seminary who play a vital role in advancing the seminary’s mission with their generous gifts of energy, prayer, and financial resources.
