“I got more than I bargained for.”
Doris
God Makes a Way
This story belongs in a book — a much longer book.
In a nutshell the story is that God makes a way; just about the time when you think there is no way. Only a few years ago, Doris immigrated from Peru, where she had run a thriving kindergarten; her heart for youngsters and knowledge of learning disabilities helped make her school successful. But when an economic downturn swept under many businesses, Doris left everything behind for America. Once here, she found the adjustment was tough because of certain educational credentials. As she was ready to give up and move back to Peru, she got a phone call — a school asking her to teach Spanish. God had made a way. Later, she entered Bethel to earn her teaching credentials. Already difficult classes can become even more problematic when language gets in the way, but great teachers and good friends eased the situation. Doris says, “At Bethel I could sense God’s presence everywhere as I pursued my certification. I learned with faith and courage, God makes a way.” She is now considering a doctorate.
