Alumni Stories
J.B.
Theoretically, J.B. knew that going to college was a good idea, but it was the getting to class part that he wrestled with. For whatever reason, when he was younger, he and college weren’t a match. So, he left thoughts of college behind and as he puts it “spent 20 years in the wilderness.” Sorry, but we have to take issue with that. In fact, what he did was become an Emergency Medical Services Coordinator in one of the fastest growing Twin City suburbs. So, why would a guy like that, a guy with a busy family, think about going back to college? Turns out a coworker kept telling him about what he was learning at Bethel. One thing led to another and J.B. mustered the courage to visit with a Bethel advisor, who worked out a plan that gave him credit for many of the valuable things he had accomplished out there in the “wilderness.” Once here, any concerns he had about “feeling like an old guy on campus” were dispelled.
