Phone! It’s For You—Make That Me.

LeeAnn

Thinking she was going to scrub toilets for the rest of her life, LeeAnn was doing just that when the phone rang. She answered, and taking a message for someone else, realized the call was really meant for her. The person on the other end was from Bethel, talking about the CAPS program. She thought to herself, “This really is for me.”

Working with people was always a strength of LeeAnn’s, going back to her high school days. But it was her tremendous fear of failing that prevented her from taking her gifts further. However, she knew that there was a reason she answered the phone, and wasn’t going to ignore that.

Merely driving to the first day of orientation was nerve-wracking. After getting lost, being over two hours late, and coming back home, her supportive husband drove her back. Much to her surprise, the professor welcomed her in, and made her feel okay about being late. “Somehow you need to take the first steps to get yourself into the building,” she says.
