Pam
“I’ve seen it; it’s contagious; and it makes a difference.” Pam’s not talking about some exotic new strain of flu. “When people say, ‘thank you,’ when they take the time to communicate it becomes contagious, changing an entire health care environment. Really, this all comes down to respect.” Funny then that so little has been written about it in the health care industry. So after Pam earned her B.S. in Nursing at Bethel and turned her attention toward earning an M.A. in Nursing Leadership, she wrote her thesis on the topic of respect. Today, she has moved from being a staff nurse to be a recruiter of nurses in human resources for a very large hospital. “Nurses come by my office frequently to discuss their careers and I ask them, ‘have you considered Bethel?’ not just because I had a terrific experience there, but because they turn out nurses who care about the whole person and that kind of respect is contagious."
