How To: Post NYCAMS Events

Items and Information Needed:

  • Event information:

    • Title
    • Date(s)
    • Opening event date and time
    • Artists
    • Description of event
  • Press Release (PDF version)

Posting an Event:

  1. Log in to https://nycams.bethel.edu/gallery-events/nycams-events/edit/tab_edit
  2. Click on the specific year on the left or in the center.

  3. Select the "Sample NYCAMS Event" and click copy.

  4. Click "Paste" to paste a copy of the Sample NYCAMS Event to work with.

  5. Select "copy_of_sample"  and click "Rename"

  6. Rename the sample for the event you're working on

    1. id: Opening date and name of event should be used (mm-dd-name). Note that capital letters and spaces are not allowed (e.g. 03-24-wishful-thinking)
    2. title: name of event (e.g. Wishful Thinking)
    3. Click "Rename"

  1. Click on the event in the modify column.

  2. On the right, click on the "Properties" dropdown.

    1. subjects: "Gallery Exhibitions"
    2. target audiences: "Public Events Pages"
    3. start date/time: *Note the format is DD/MM/YYYY and 24-hr time

      1. This time is also used for the "Opening Event" information.
    4. end date/time: *Note the format is DD/MM/YYYY and 24-hr time
    5. location: n/a (leave blank)
    6. link method: n/a
    7. external link: n/a
    8. display method: default
    9. teaser: This is the event description.

  3. Click on the yellow box "Silva Code Source <<NYCAMS Exhibition Metadata>>" on the left.

    1. curated by:
    2. artists: separate names with commas (e.g. John Silvis, Wayne Roosa)
    3. audio archive: if n/a leave blank. otherwise, enter address including "http://" at the beginning
    4. video arive: same as audio

    5. press release: click "get reference..."

      1. Select: "Silva File"

      2. Browse for the file
      3. id: Date of release and name of event followed by .pdf (mm-dd-name.pdf). Note that capital letters and spaces are not allowed (e.g. 03-15-wishful-thinking.pdf)
      4. title: date of release, name of event, and press release (e.g. 03-15 "Wishful Thinking" Press Release)
      5. Click "save"

      6. Select the correct press release from the list
    6. Click "update"

  4. Click the Save icon at the top.

  5. Click "publish now" on the top right.

Updating Events (adding audio or video, making corrections)

  1. Log in to https://nycams.bethel.edu/gallery-events/nycams-events/edit/tab_edit
  2. Click on the specific year on the left.
  3. Click on the event in the modify column
  4. Click "new version"
  5. Follow the steps above to make any corrections or additions.
