Process for Publishing Webpages

Wiki Tools

What’s the process for publishing a webpage?

  1. Silva author makes changes to their page.
  2. After they’ve finished editing the page, the Silva author goes to the Publish tab, adds a comment for their Chief Editor about what’s changed, and clicks the button to send their page for approval.
  3. Chief editor in will receive an email notifying them of a publishing request.
  4. Chief editor then goes through and reviews/publishes requests every 1-3 business days.
  5. Silva authors receive either an email notifying them that their page is published or an email with questions that the editor would like feedback on before publishing the page.

Why do chief editors review pages?

Chief editors are in place to help out Silva authors so there is a second set of eyes to:

  • Look at page formatting
  • Make sure any new info fits with site structure and editorial guidelines
  • Spot any typos
  • Test links
  • Double check that language is clear and helpful

How long does it take Web Services to publish pages?

You can expect that your page will be published within 1-3 business days barring any major glitches. Make sure you plan your updates a few days in advance.

Have an emergency? Stop and evaluate if it's a true emergency (something that can't wait longer than 1 business day). If that's the case, send a kind email to your chief editor letting them know that you have an immediate publishing request. They'll be happy to respond.
