Abstract: This article describes how to embed a flash video in a Silva Document.  The Flash video player used in this article progressively plays video that is downloaded from Silva.  Playback begins before the video is fully downloaded, which is why it is "progressive".  This player does not support streaming flash video.

1.  You have a Flash video (.flv file extension) that you want to embed in a Silva Document.

Adding Flash Video to Silva

2.  Add the Flash video as a Silva File (NOT a Silva Flash Asset!)

3.  In the Silva Document, expand the external source tool and select "Flash Video Player (Progressive)".

Choosing the Flash Video Player

4.  Specify the size of the movie and the other movie options.  To control whether the video begins playback immediately, change the 'Play' parameter accordingly.  See this Adobe KB Article for more information on the movie options.

5. Now click get reference... to locate the Flash movie you wish to play.

6.  Click add external source

7.  Save the document

8.  Now preview the document.  The Flash video should play.
