Suppressing Site Properties for a Page

Ed. Note:  The use of this is now deprecated.  Sites that are moved over to the bu-layout will use the appropriate bethel-layout metadata fields.  Sites using the bu template that need these features should be converted to the bu-layout template.

For some properties, it is possible to suppress them so they don't apply for a page or area of a site.  Below is the method used and a list of the properties where this feature can be used.

Method

The same method applies to all of these options.  You need to have access to the Zope Management Interface (ZMI).

  1. Visit the ZMI for a Silva Document (or other content object) which will have a property suppressed by adding '/manage' to the public url, or access it by going to https://cms-editor.bethel.edu/silva/manage.
  2. Go to the "Properties" tab of the document.
  3. Add a property.  Use the name which corresponds to the Template Property from the table below, as well as the value and type specified.

NOTE: this method can be applied to an entire section of a site by adding the property to a Silva Folder or Silva Publication.

For some pages (like the homepage of a site), it is not appropriate or aesthetic to have the page title displayed in the bu-content-pad, or as the first item of the content.  Often the homepage will have the same title as the "site title" property. Related Documentation for duplicate titles.
