Vogt served as an officer in the United States Navy on the USS John Rodgers (DD 983) before experiencing a call to ministry. Following the completion of his M.Div. at Bethel Seminary, he pursued a Ph.D. at the University of Gloucestershire in Cheltenham , England , under the supervision of Prof. Gordon McConville. Vogt's Ph.D. research was on the theology of Deuteronomy. His past ministry experience includes ministry to single adults, correctional facility inmates, adults and teens in Sunday school, and as a volunteer hospital chaplain. He is a member of the Evangelical Theological Society, the Society of Biblical Literature, and Tyndale Fellowship.
