Step 1 - Check application requirements and prerequisites

  • Students must maintain a 3.00 minimum GPA
  • Students must earn a grade of "C" or better in the CAS courses which will meet seminary requirements.
  • During the fall semester of the 4th year (senior standing), students must prove they have the character and competency to transition to graduate level education. Continuance in the program requires the approval of the Ministry Scholars Program Director.

Step 2 - Apply to the College of Arts & Sciences

  • Get started on your undergrad application.
  • Applicants cannot be selected as Ministry Scholars until they have been admitted to the College of Arts & Sciences. However, you can submit the Ministry Scholars application prior to acceptance so the two review processes happen simultaneously.

Step 3 - Apply to the Ministry Scholars Program

  • Whether you've just applied to CAS, or you're an existing student, you'll need to complete the Ministry Scholars Program Application. (Applications are typically accepted for CAS students through their junior year)
  • As part of the Ministry Scholars application process, applicants must send the reference form link to one pastoral reference and one personal reference.
  • Based upon your qualifications, you may be invited to interview with the Ministry Scholars Program Director and/or the Seminary Dean. This interview, along with the rest of your application materials, will serve as the basis for determining your acceptance into the Ministry Scholars program and eligibility for the $5,000 Kern Scholar Scholarship.
  • Additional financial aid may also be available. Find out your eligibility by completing your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
