Pursue your passions and discover your purpose.

As a student in the BUILD program, you'll earn a Certificate in Applied Studies. You'll take required courses in life skills, independent living, and financial literacy, and you'll also have the opportunity to choose elective courses based on your interests and schedule.

You’ll also participate in a robust student life experience and complete internships to prepare for meaningful employment. For more detailed information about our academic offerings, you can review our academic catalog.

Core Courses

Core course topics will follow these threads:

  • Bible, Theology, and Spiritual Formation
  • Health and Wellness
  • Independent Living
  • Jobs and Employment

These topics will increase in depth throughout the two years of the BUILD program.

Elective Courses

Students choose elective courses based on their interests. These courses are integrated with other undergraduate students, and students in BUILD receive support from a student academic mentor. We add more courses to our elective options every year, and current offerings can be found in the academic catalog.

Bible Coursework

All students in BUILD will receive coursework in Bible and theology with a heavy application emphasis. As with all courses at Bethel, integration of faith and learning is paramount.

Internships

Internships provide you with the opportunity to gain professional skills and put them into practice. During the first year of the BUILD program, you'll start with the Life at Bethel course to help you learn more about your strengths and choose your career pathway followed by an internship with support from a job mentor. The second year of work experience will continue to be matched to your work readiness and career interests.
