Peer Mentors

Peer mentors are part of a supportive community. They work with students in BUILD to provide friendship, model life skills, and give guidance with school work.

Mentor Descriptions

Housing mentors: Housing mentors live near students in the BUILD program in the same residence hall. Mentors help students develop life skills that will transition them to living independently. This includes self-care, home management (laundry, cleaning, etc.), weekly meal planning and preparation, and social/community participation.

Social mentors: Social mentors spend time hanging out, attending activities, and helping  year one students build relationships around campus. Students are matched based on areas of social interests (e.g. theater, music, sports, etc.)

Student mentors: Student mentors help students in BUILD with homework and study skills throughout the week from their core courses and electives.

Job mentors: Job mentors help coach and support students in the BUILD program during their internship lab and internships.
