Rebecca Sutton received her B.A. in education from Bethel University and M.A. in English as a Second Language from Hamline University. She has worked in education for over 30 years and in the area of English Language Learning for over 25 years. During those years she has acquired a broad spectrum of experiences from teaching English learners at both the elementary and secondary level, to administering an EL program on the district level k-12, to teaching in a teacher preparation program in the area of English Learner assessment and curriculum. Her passion in education is provide an equitable experience for all learners. She has provided professional development to mainstream teachers around best practices for the instruction of English learners as well as informed many systems in her district. Recently she has reviewed and updated the RTI process for identification and assessment of English Learners. Her current interest and research has been around best practices in the co teaching model of EL education as well as how to support EL students in standard based instruction and grading.

Rebecca Sutton lives in South Minneapolis with her husband of 31 years.  She enjoys the diversity of the city and volunteers as a mentor mom for young moms.  She has two children who are currently in college in the Chicago area.

Rebecca Sutton has taught on the college level at other universities.  She has taught;  English Language Learners methods courses, Socio Linguistics, Educational Foundations, and collaborated a course around teaching reading to diverse learners.

Rebecca Sutton enjoys reading, travel, and golfing.  She enjoys cooking new foods and volunteering.  She enjoys traveling to Chicago to visit her two kids who are in college there.
