Tips for Using Bethel's Online Catalog

Academic Catalogs for each year are available in the Undergrad Catalog and PDF Archive. The catalog for the current academic year is online at catalog.bethel.edu/arts-sciences.

  • When looking at your major or general education requirements, make sure you look at the catalog for the academic year you entered Bethel. The catalog for your entry year is the catalog used to determine your graduation requirements. Find your catalog on this page, or you can visit catalog.bethel.edu and click the link to “Undergrad Catalog and PDF Archive” on the main page.
  • Check the current year's catalog for the most up-to-date course descriptions, including prerequisites and terms courses offered.

Navigation

  • In the menu on the left side of your screen, click the plus signs “+” next to menu items to see pages within that section. Clicking on the text of a menu item brings you to the main page for that section.
    • For example, to find your academic department, click the + next to “College of Arts & Sciences,” then click the + next to “Academic Programs.” Click on your department’s name for an overview of the department, or click the + next to your department’s name in the menu to see a list of majors in that department. Click the title of a major to see its requirements.
  • Notice that each department page has four blue buttons across the top: “Overview,” “Majors,” “Minors,” and “Courses.” Click through these buttons to find different types of information about your department.
  • Likewise, the page for each individual major has two blue buttons at the top: “Overview” and “Academic Plans.”
The Overview page lists requirements for the major, while the Academic Plans page incorporates those major requirements with the general education curriculum so you can see an example of how a student might complete all graduation requirements in four years. The Academic Plans page for each major also has options to download PDF or Excel versions of each plan (see the links to “Print Friendly Version: PDF” and “Print Friendly Version: Excel” at the top of each Academic Plans page).
  • Each minor has an Overview page.
  • If you click on the course number of any course in the overview requirements or academic plans for a major or minor, you will see a box pop up with the course title, description, number of credits, prerequisites, and terms offered for that course.

How to Find the Academic Plan for Your Major

Bethel has pre-designed academic plans for each major that show how a student entering Bethel with no previous college credit could complete that major in four years. Find the plan for your major by following the steps below:

  1. Go to the Academic Catalog for the year you started at Bethel and find the list of Academic Programs in the navigation menu on the left side of the screen. Click the link to your chosen major(s). Across the top of the page, you’ll see blue buttons for “Overview” and “Academic Plans.” The Overview page lists requirements for the major, while the Academic Plans page incorporates those major requirements with the general education curriculum so you can see an example of how a student might complete all graduation requirements in four years. The Academic Plans page for each major also has options to download PDF or Excel versions of each plan.
  2. Click the “Academic Plans” button and either view, print, or download the academic plan for your major. You can then cross off courses you have already received credit for (see our Academic Planning page for more info).
