Sankofa Trips

Sankofa

Sankofa means looking back in order to move forward. Each year, Bethel takes a spring break journey where a group of students, staff, and faculty travel together through sites of the American struggle for civil rights, justice, and the beloved community. This trip provides a weeklong opportunity that allows us to get to know each other, build friendships, and work together as diverse people of God. We explore the faith, sacrifice, and commitment that formed the essence of the civil rights era and how that continues to apply in our community today.

This trip is open to all Bethel students, including seminary students, as well as staff and faculty.

The Sankofa trip can potentially count as a Z-tag credit if participants register for GES101 and GES102Z. If you have questions or would like to apply, please come to the Office of Christian Formation or contact Matt Runion at matthew-runion@bethel.edu.
