Biology Senior and Alumni Banquet

Event Description

Biology, Biochemistry/Molecular Biology, Environmental Science, and Life Science alumni are invited to return to campus and connect with professors, current students, and fellow alumni. Prior to the banquet you have the option of watching the current senior students give their Senior Symposium Presentations.

Senior Symposium Presentations (optional)

1:00 p.m. | CC125

Senior students will deliver their research projects in 15-minute presentations; come anytime. There will be light refreshments.

Childcare Drop-off (Ages 3+)

4:45 p.m. | BC432, Brushaber Commons level 4

Children are encouraged to attend! We will have a pizza party for everyone and then:

  • Ages 3-6 | Childcare provided
  • Ages 7-12 | Kids will get to see a Biology lab and participate in STEM-related activities 
  • Older kids are welcome to come and attend the banquet

You will hear updates on the department as well as from alum, Dr. Jon Eliason.

Jonathan L. Eliason, M.D. '92, is an Associate Professor of Vascular Surgery at the University of Michigan and alum of the class of 1992. After receiving his medical degree from the University of Michigan he relocated to Nashville, Tennessee where he completed his General Surgery Residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He became Chief Resident in the 2001-2002 academic year and proceeded into the two-year Vascular Surgery Fellowship at the University of Michigan the following year. Prior to joining the faculty at U-M, Dr. Eliason served as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and as a staff surgeon for the San Antonio Military Vascular Surgery Service at Wilford Hall Medical Center and Brooke Army Medical Center. He was deployed to Balad, Iraq as a vascular surgeon in the 332nd Expeditionary Medical Group from 9/06 - 1/07 and was otherwise a member of the 859th Surgical Operations Squadron of the 59th Medical Wing at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas.  He joined the faculty at the University of Michigan in the section of vascular surgery in 2007.
