Event Description

BUnited, in partnership with BethelBiz, provides opportunities for alumni and friends of Bethel University to connect and collaborate. Our breakfast series is crafted to introduce new ideas, address relevant topics in the workplace and leadership, and start meaningful networking conversations that foster personal, career, and spiritual growth. Please join us for breakfast on September 13 at Midland Hills Country Club and hear from President of Minnehaha Academy Donna Harris.

Note: Mentoring a current Bethel student is another great way for alumni to get connected, and we are always looking for more mentors to join our ranks.  Learn more about the BethelBiz Mentorship Program and other mentoring opportunities by visiting our website.

About our Speaker: Donna Harris, Ed.D. has served as President of Minnehaha Academy, a PreK-12 Christian school founded by Swedish immigrants in 1913, since 2009. Previously Donna served as the Assistant Superintendent and Chief Academic Officer at Valley Christian Schools, a K-12 school with an enrollment of 2,500 students. Prior to her work in independent schools, Donna taught in public schools with a bilingual elementary and secondary teaching credential, twice receiving Intel Corporation's prestigious Innovation in Teaching award. Donna has frequently presented at conferences on topics such as project-based learning, integration of technology in learning, board governance, strategic planning and school improvement. She authored a chapter in the book, Building a Better School called Diversity in the Christian School. Donna has served on the Board of Trustees at North Park University (2010-2015), the Minnesota Independent School Forum (2013-2016) and currently serves as a trustee (Vice Chair) for the Independent Schools Association of the Central States (ISACS 2016-Current), Hope Academy (2019-Current), and the Ordway Center of Performing Arts (2016-Current). Donna is also an ordained minister of the Evangelical Covenant Church. She is married to Rick (38 years) and is the mother of five adult children.

Topic: See, I am Doing a New Thing (Isaiah 43:19)

We never know what a day holds, but we know who holds our days. As believers, when the unthinkable happens, we must firmly hold on to the hope that God cares, His grace is sufficient, and He is still in our midst. Leading Minnehaha Academy through its greatest crisis since its founding in 1913 has been painful and inspiring. Our story, still being written, reveals a crown of beauty instead of ashes (Isaiah 61:3), key lessons that have strengthened our school community, and opportunities for transformation and greater Kingdom impact. Our prayer is that Minnehaha's journey can be illuminating personally and professionally to others for God's glory.
