Addressing Minnesota's Racial Legacy: Finally Telling the Truth and a Time of Reckoning for Social Work
(Competency #2, Social Work Code of Ethics Standard 1.05 and two (2) MN Required Continuing Education Hours on "Cultural Responsiveness.")
Presenters Pam Ngunjiri and Jim Bear Jacobs, co-directors of the Minnesota Council of Churches Racial Justice Program, are working on a "10 year Truth & Reparations project that includes dismantling structures and repairing the damage of racism in Minnesota."
Pam Ngunjiri, a pastor in the African Methodist Episcopal denomination, has been a county social worker, an adjunct SW professor, and is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Ministry focused on "Racism, White Supremacy and the Christian Church."
Jim Bear Jacobs is a citizen of the Stockbridge-Munsee Mohican Nation and heads up the "Healing MN Stories" program, an effort to create understanding and healing between Native American and non-Native people, particularly those in faith communities.
