Event Description

Shakespeare’s classic comedy, The Taming of the Shrew, about two strong-willed individuals comes to the Bethel stage this February.

Kate, the eldest daughter of Baptista, needs to be married before the popular and engaging Bianca can wed. However, Kate is independent, strong-willed, and to many suitors, a “shrew.” When Petruchio arrives he decides he will “tame this Kate” but finds, despite her stubbornness, she is a worthy bride. His strategy to “kill her with kindness” while reflecting her raucous behavior back to her makes for a comic romp while effectively “holding a mirror up to nature” as Shakespeare felt all his work should do.

Come and see the play that inspired the musical Kiss Me Kate, and the film, 10 Things I Hate About You.

Directed by Meg Zauner
