Seminary St. Paul Borrowing Privileges

Holds and Recall

  • Books put on hold will be held for 14 days.
  • Books are subject to recall if needed for course reserves.

Guest Borrowing

  • Guests may apply for a library card by filling out a registration form. Please note that some exceptions may apply.
  • At least one form of identification is needed
  • Card is free for alumni, $15 for guests
  • Students, faculty, and staff from MTLA Libraries (Luther Seminary, United Seminary, or St. John's School of Theology-Seminary) may register for a library card at no charge. The card allows you to check out up to 10 books.
  • Graduate students and faculty from libraries participating in the ATLA Reciprocal Borrowing Program may register for a library card at no charge. The card allows you to check out up to 10 books at the Seminary and University Libraries.

Library card policies

  • The guest library card may be used at the Seminary St. Paul and University Libraries. Except where noted above, guests may check out a total of five books from the Seminary or University Library.
  • Guests must agree to comply with the policies of the Seminary Libraries and to pay fees charged.
  • Guests must agree to give prompt notice of any change of address, phone number, or of card loss.

Checking Out & Returning Library Materials

  • Library materials and equipment may be checked out at the Circulation Desk.
  • Return library materials to the Circulation Desk when the library is open.
  • After hours, books can be returned to the book drop in the hallway outside the library or at the library's back door (access it through the Seminary service road on the north side of the library).

Mailing Library Material

  • The library will mail material to Bethel Seminary students regardless of where they live.
  • Students must pay for return shipping
