Mark Miles to Lead Advancement at Bethel University

Mark Miles to become Bethel’s Senior Vice President for Advancement in June.

Bethel University President Jay Barnes has appointed Mark Miles to be the new senior vice president for university advancement. Miles has 25 years of progressive fundraising experience in Christian higher education and the non-profit sector. He will begin at Bethel on June 15.

"I am excited that Mark Miles is joining the leadership team at Bethel. His humble spirit and passion for Christ stood out during the interview process,” says Barnes. “He will bring years of fundraising experience to the university as we begin to focus on growing our endowment for long-term financial health for Bethel. Mark’s campaign cabinet experience will also be helpful to us as we envision and launch the next comprehensive campaign to achieve the priorities identified through the Strategic Coalition and Campus Master Plan.”

Miles began his career with World Vision as a financial analyst and later as a grant and finance manager for their domestic programs. He then worked for Seattle Pacific University in Seattle, Washington, as the director of advancement services and director of annual giving. Since 2011, he has worked at Biola University as the senior director of development, where he recently helped secure a $12 million gift for the university.

Miles and his wife, Pauline, are excited to move to Minnesota and to join the Bethel community. “There are a number of reasons Pauline and I are excited to set our hearts down at Bethel,” says Miles. “Bethel is one of the premier universities in the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU), and its commitment to Christ and His Word are first and foremost. Plus, our connections to Converge and Minnesota go way back. My grandfather pastored his first church in Minnesota, and Pauline and I were married in and have always attended Converge churches.”

Miles graduated from Biola University with a Bachelor of Science in business administration. He then received his MBA from California State University in Long Beach, California.
