Benefits-eligible employees qualify for life insurance beginning on their first day of employment. Bethel covers 100% of the cost for basic life insurance, which provides coverage equal to one times the employee's annual salary. Employees may also choose to purchase additional life insurance at their own expense, with rates based on age.
If you are currently enrolled in additional life insurance for an amount less than $200,000, you can increase your coverage by one or two increments of $5,000 annually—up to but not exceeding the guaranteed issue amount of $200,000—without answering health questions. Spouse coverage is available for purchase in $5,000 increments, up to $250,000, with a guaranteed issue amount of $50,000. Voluntary child life insurance can be purchased in $2,000 increments, up to a maximum of $10,000.
Basic and supplemental life insurance include accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D) coverage for the employee. Additional coverage can be purchased at a cost of $0.30 per $10,000 for employee coverage and $0.49 per $10,000 for family coverage.
Basic and supplemental life insurance also include accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D) coverage for the employee. Additional coverage may be purchased. The cost of the coverage is $0.30 per $10,000 for employee coverage and $0.49 per $10,000 for family coverage.
