Do you need to drive a Bethel vehicle? Bethel operates a fleet of vehicles to support university activities and operations, including a pool of vans available for rental to departments and official groups. To request use of a vehicle pool van, visit the Vehicle Request page.
All drivers must be approved by the Transportation Office prior to operating a vehicle owned or rented by Bethel:
- All drivers must complete a defensive driving training and submit the Driver Authorization Form to the Transportation Office (HC 100).
- Defensive driving classroom sessions are offered multiple times each semester. Use the defensive driving registration form to view upcoming dates and sign up.
- For students, defensive driving certification expires each year at the time of May commencement.
- For staff and faculty, certification expires three years from the date of last training. Staff and faculty may also choose to borrow the training materials from the Transportation Office to complete on their own.
All drivers of Bethel's vehicle pool or rented vans are expected to know and follow the Vehicle Pool Policies and Procedures; these are discussed during the defensive driving sessions. The Fleet Management Policy applies to use of all other fleet vehicles.
