The Pietas Honors Program enables intellectually curious and academically gifted students to honor God with the life of the mind. While learning in a collaborative community of students and faculty, members of the Pietas Program enrich their education by critically engaging complex questions and contributing to the mission of the university. Valuing all academic disciplines, they commit to exercise their talents diligently, working and serving generously in lifelong pursuit of God’s truth.

Several courses with a cohort of various majors will enhance the liberal arts perspective. Program community events throughout the academic year develop a tight-knit group of scholars and friends. Close interaction with a faculty member on an Honors project provides room for further study of a special interest.

Program Highlights

Unique experiences

The Pietas Program incorporates four Honors courses, individual academic research projects, community activities, and service leadership opportunities.

Supportive cohort

You’ll participate in the Pietas Program with a group of peers who will take Honors classes together each year and share in Pietas activities together to build supportive relationships.

Projects with faculty

You’ll have the opportunity to work closely with professors on projects that explore your interests and goals—from scientific experiments to original artistic works—and blend advanced work into the courses already required for your major. You'll also have the chance to present your work to your classmates, the broader Bethel community, and beyond.

Available to any major

The Pietas Program is designed to enhance any area of study at Bethel. Every major offered at Bethel has been represented by graduates of the Honors Program.

Free textbooks for Pietas Program courses

Bethel and the Pietas Program know that textbooks are essential tools for scholars. For this reason, students in the Pietas Honors Program receive all of the textbooks for their four Honors courses for free.

After Graduation

Pietas students prepare for professional careers and go on to excellent graduate programs within their desired field.
