Film is one of the most powerful forms of media today. The Film Studies minor provides an interdisciplinary program of study that seeks to understand film as an art form, as a medium of communication, and as a cultural force for shaping attitudes, values, and views of the world. You'll have courses in film analysis and interpretation through the communication studies, English, philosophy, and theatre arts departments. This minor also offers off-campus study through the Los Angeles Film Studies Center.
What can I do with this degree? Many students have used this minor as a complement to their majors in philosophy, English literature, biblical and theological studies, history, theatre, art, and even physics. Some of our alumni have used this minor to gain positions in film criticism and reviewing.
