Financial Aid Overview 2023-2024

Are you planning on attending Bethel for the 2023-2024 school year? Here's what you need to know:

Before You apply - Use our Net Price Calculator to get an estimate of your offer and learn more about what to do before you apply for aid.

Apply for Aid - Complete your 2023-2024 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The 2023-2024 FAFSA will be available beginning October 1, 2022. We recommend that you use the IRS Data Retrieval process when completing your FAFSA to minimize the chance that your application is selected for verification. Be sure to include Bethel University (school code #002338) on the list of schools to receive your FAFSA information. Also, students beginning at Bethel in 2023-2024 (both new and transfer) should complete the Bethel Financial Aid Application.

Processing your financial aid offer . . . The Bethel way!

At Bethel University we strive to gather the most accurate projection of what your overall financial aid offer will be from all resources before sending out your offer letter. We do this as a way to help our new incoming students and their familes have a better picture of the financial aid the student will be receiving in comparison to the tuition and fees costs for the school year. By doing this it allows our students to make a more informed decision on the finanical aid they are being offered versus any additional resources they may need. All of these factors combined makes for a royal financial aid experience for all of our incoming students!

For our returning students, in most cases if you and your family's financial picture is about the same each year your financial aid offer will reflect that as well.

You should receive your offer via letter within 2-3 weeks of submitting all required application materials. You can also view your financial aid online through MyBethel [Checklist tab>Financial Aid Award Offer button>select the appropriate academic year from the dropdown list].

*Please note that for the 2023-2024 school year:

  •  If you are a new student we will begin awarding in early January, 2023. If you are applying for one of the competetive scholarships; Arts & Humanties, Physics & Engineering, Music Performance, Act Six, Faith in Action, etc) a separate application is required and offers will be mailed after those decisions are made.
  • For returning students we begin preparing financial aid offers in late April, 2023.

Students are reviewed for the Royal Merits Scholarship based on information provided on the admissions and financial aid applications. The Royal Merits Scholarship factors in high school information, family legacy at Bethel, community service and leadership opportunities, as well as pastoral and missionary service to achieve our goal to develop student leaders, scholars and servants. Students new to Bethel in 2023-2024 apply for the Royal Merits Scholarship by completing the Bethel Financial Aid Application. If we don't receive your Bethel Financial Aid Application by March 1, 2023, we will prepare your financial aid package with the information that we have.

After You're Offered Financial Aid

Once you receive your financial aid offer, visit After You're Offered Financial Aid. You'll find helpful information to enable you to complete the financial aid process.

Special Circumstances?

Sometimes situations limit what you can handle financially. We call these special circumstances, which could include unusually high medical expenses or a job loss. These special circumstances aren't factored in when you apply for aid, so there is an appeal process to have your need-based aid reviewed.
