GES140: Introduction to Wellbeing

Introduction to Wellbeing is a three-credit course, ideally taken the first semester a student is at Bethel. It explores six aspects of life that significantly influence a person's wellbeing. Students are taught to use systems thinking to conceptualize how each aspect of life impacts the others. The six aspects of life explored are highlighted on the Wellbeing Wheel below:

Common collegiate challenges to intrapersonal and interpersonal wellbeing are identified. Practices or skills that could counter these challenges are explained. Students are provided with information that can help them thrive both individually and interpersonally. At the end of the course, students determine what information they want to implement in their own life as they write a Strategy for Living for their final project.
