Alumni
My fellow Ameri…Ahem! I mean my fellow classmates:
Do you know who once experienced frostbite in 100-degree weather? Or who considers Augsburg College a mission field? You would—if you had attended our 2007 reunion!
Seriously—the class of 1987 had a noteworthy showing at the festivities; the toughest part of the evening was trying to get the crowd out of CC312 and down to the dinner because everyone was engrossed in conversation.
At dinner, we heard Bethel Alumnus of the Year U.S. Army Chaplain (Colonel) Glen Bloomstrom speak about being lifelong learners and servants. His unique military perspective made an impact on the entire room. (Since my husband is a Navy reservist, I have deep respect for people who serve our country.)
Returning to our room, Doug Samuelson took over. We had a blast going through the list of factoids—plus a few red herrings—gleaned from some classmates. We also played “Team Retro Game Show” and competed for fabulous prizes.
Life is busy 20 years after our college graduation, and perhaps you were unable to join us; if you wonder what you missed, call some classmates. Make a pact with others to attend our next reunion in five years—or serve on the planning committee—it’s worth it!
Twenty years provides a great perspective on life, and it is a blessing to share life journeys with other believers. Another highlight of the evening was connecting with alumni from other graduating years. The experience was a foretaste of how heaven will be—and there, “bouncers” won’t try to kick us out at 11 p.m.!
Please remember to pray for your classmates. The ensuing years have brought trials—and joys (mirrored in the photo of a beautiful baby boy that Mike Bell and his lovely bride shared with us)! Fellowship with other believers helps us divide our sorrows and multiply our blessings.
We thank God for allowing us to attend this reunion. Our prayer is that those who were there will maintain fellowship and that those who were unable to come will consider attending our milestone 25-year reunion in 2012.
For the reunion committee,
Traci Peterson
Kris and Steve
Olson, Kyle Olund, Doug Samuelson, and Cheri Matuszak
