FRESHMAN PARKING
Only under specific circumstances are freshmen allowed to have a car on campus. Please click here to view the Freshman Parking Appeal Form, which includes examples of situations in which freshmen may have cars on campus.
SOPHOMORE PARKING
There are a limited number of parking spaces available to sophomores. These are chosen through a random selection process. If you did not receive a parking permit, but wish to appeal, click here to view the Sophomore Parking Appeal Form.
VEHICLE REGISTRATION
All students, staff, and faculty who have permission to park on campus need to register their vehicles. Student permit fees are published each year in the College of Arts & Sciences (CAS) catalog and student handbook.

SEMINARY STUDENT REGISTRATION
All seminary students living on campus have been designated their own parking spaces in the Seminary Village Lot. Those seminary students who are commuting to class (including SemPM students) are permitted to park in the Seminary Commuter Lot. All seminary students are required to register their vehicle. Guest and Visitor Parking
Parking is free for guests and visitors. Visitors are expected to observe Bethel's parking and operating regulations.
Bethel is a closed campus from 6 p.m.-6 a.m. The east entrance will be closed and anyone wishing to enter the campus must receive authorization from the security checkpoint at the west entrance. Individuals with proper vehicle registration will be given clearance but must come to a complete stop until such has been given. Please wait until the security officer provides authorization before you proceed.
The east gate will reopen daily by 6:30 a.m.
Guests coming to visit or to pick up students need to have prior authorization. Otherwise the officer will not allow them to enter campus until the student has been contacted.
Parking Regulations
Vehicles may only be parked in a designated parking space. A vehicle is considered parked if it is left unattended for any amount of time. This policy applies especially to fire lanes - those areas of campus with yellow curbing. These areas will be strictly enforced. Any violation of these areas will result in towing. Please consider that when you park in these areas you put the residents of that entire building in jeopardy of not receiving proper emergency response.
These regulations include circumstances where one might be loading and unloading. Individuals wanting to load or unload items may do so for a maximum of 10 minutes along the side of the roadway with hazard lights flashing. Any vehicle parked in a short-term parking area longer than the specified time is subject to being ticketed and/or towed, at the owner's expense. If you must unload in a Fire Lane please contact security and safety to receive permission. If granted, please only do so for 10 minutes.
OVERNIGHT PARKING AREAS
There are certain lots on campus where students and guests are allowed to park overnight. If guests need to park their vehicle on campus overnight they should park in the Soho Lot and contact the Office of Security and Safety at 651.638.6055.
PARKING FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES
Use of a handicapped parking spaced is restricted to ONLY those vehicles with a state-issued handicapped license plate or displaying a state-issued certificate. Quick errands, deliveries, or drop-offs are not valid excuses for parking in or obstructing handicapped spaces. Minnesota State law requires enforcement of handicapped spaces on a 24-hour basis, seven days a week, including holiday periods. Bethel University is not authorized to issue temporary handicapped permits. Individuals with temporary disabilities should apply to the state for a handicapped parking certificate. Applications are also available at the security office.
RESERVED PARKING
Spaces marked with a sign designating a personal name, department, visitor, or number are considered reserved parking spaces. Unauthorized vehicles parked in these spaces are subject to immediate immobilization or towing. These spaces are located throughout campus and are reserved 24 hours a day.
MOTORCYCLE / BICYCLE PARKING
Motorcycles and mopeds can park on the sidewalk in the loading dock area. Bicycle racks are provided in several areas around campus. Bicycles are not to be parked in the buildings or locked to anything other than a bicycle rack. Failure to comply with these regulations will result in your bicycle being impounded.
ROLLERBLADES / SKATEBOARDS
Rollerblading and skateboarding are prohibited in the university buildings and in the residences. Performing stunts on railings or campus landscaping with bicycles, rollerblades, or skateboards is also prohibited.
DISABLED OR ABANDONED VEHICLES
Should a vehicle become disabled, immediately notify the Office of Security and Safety at 651.638.6055. Otherwise, the car may be subject to ticketing, immobilization, and/or towing.
