CAPS/GS Commencement Event Information for Students
Congratulations to all graduating students! Your commencement is an important capstone to a great deal of academic effort and hard work. It is also an exciting event to celebrate with family, friends, faculty, and fellow graduates. Direct your commencement guests to guest information.
Sunday, May 25
1 p.m. and 4 p.m. | Doors open 1 hour before the ceremony starts.
Benson Great Hall
Your degree program determines which ceremony you attend. Check the program assignments to confirm which ceremony is yours.
There is no rehearsal. Instead, you will receive important instructions at lineup. Report to the Robertson Center Gym 1 hour before your ceremony starts. For the 1 p.m. ceremony, arrive on campus at 11:50 a.m. For the 4 p.m. ceremony, arrive at 2:50 p.m. Allow ample time to drive and park. Wear your regalia.
Park in either the West or East Lot. The East Lot is close to the lineup location; the West Lot is close to the ceremony/reception location. A valuables check (for purses, phones, etc.) will be available.
Marshals will lead the graduating class in two lines from the RC Gym to Benson Great Hall. If you are unable to walk this route; email firstname.lastname@example.org to arrange accommodations.
Guest Seating in Benson Great Hall
Your guests do not need tickets. Seating is on a first-come basis. Because the ceremony is formal and the acoustics are lively, encourage your guests to make other arrangements for babies and young children. Direct your guests to guest information for additional details, including accessible seating.
A reception for you and your guests will take place in Brushaber Commons following the ceremony. Hallway hosts will direct everyone to the reception. Tell your guests to meet you at the reception. Signs identifying degree programs will be posted throughout the reception area as gathering points for graduates, guests, and faculty. Some degree programs will gather in the Underground, and some in Monson Dining Center. Refreshments will be available.
If you are a master’s graduate, return your hood to the Campus Store before leaving campus. If you are an Ed.D. graduate, return your gown, hood, and tam.
A professional photographer will take individual photos of graduates as they receive their diploma cover on stage. To view your photo, visit www.pictureplace.smugmug.com and use the search word “Bethel”. You may order your photo via the website or call Picture Place at 651.426.0232.
