What: short footprints downtime for maintenance
When: Wednesday May 23, 10:00 - 11:00
Affects: footprints.bethel.edu only

During the normal outage window tomorrow, Wednesday May 23,
footprints.bethel.edu will be taken offline to perform a kernel
upgrade.

[its-outages] Blink outage (resolved)

What: blink outage
When: 2:05 - 2:20 p.m. today
Affects: access to blink.bethel.edu

At approx. 2:05 today Web Services was alerted that blink.bethel.edu
stopped responding. Browsers would exhibit a "waiting for page load"
behavior and eventually time out.

A restart of the blink services appears to have restored the system.

[its-outages] BSP DNS Outage Mitigated

What: BSP DNS Outage Mitigated
When: Wednesday, 05/16, ~12:00-12:15pm
Affects: DNS services, and indirectly Internet access, for many BSP network
users.

Details:
A device in our WAN edge flaked out during a configuration commit this
afternoon. This broke NAT and DNS recursion during the above window. The

wiebe and footprints became unavailable last night as they crashed during
the normal backup process. A utility to quiesce the filesystem during
backup seems to have caused this problem. At this time we are disabling
that utility and will monitor ongoing results from that action.

wiebe and footprints servers are now back online.

What: footprints services restored
When: service restored around 8:35 a.m. today

A reboot of the footprints server appears to have restored service to
normal. The cause of the outage is under investigation.
