Julie Allen (New York Center for Art & Media Studies) recently had an exhibit at McKenzie Fine Art in New York City. Allen is known for her skillfully sewn sculptures. Whether shoes and purses made from foil, candy and birthday cakes made from rubber balloons, or sweets and savories constructed from silk taffeta, all of her work relates to childhood and family rituals. In this body of work, Allen created small-scale robot sculptures, imaginative and humorous in construction.
Nikki Daniels (Organizational Leadership) presented “The Leader as Communication Champion” at the 7th Annual Academic Conference for Argosy University.
Curtiss DeYoung (Anthropology and Sociology) served as one of five editors for The People’s Bible, released in fall 2008. “The People’s Bible underscores the role of cultures in shaping the Bible and the way people read the Bible today while emphasizing its inclusive vision of the people of God in many cultural, economic, and political contexts,” Fortress Press said in a news release.
