The Faces of BUILD at Bethel
Bethel's BUILD program changes lives.
BUILD is a two-year residential comprehensive transition program for students with intellectual disabilities. Students experience dynamic and encouraging instruction, career-oriented curriculum, a specialized mentorship, and on-campus living—all within a supportive Christian environment. Bethel's faith-based BUILD program was the first of its kind in Minnesota and is currently one of only seven in the nation.

“I just want to tell other girls with Down syndrome that they can go to college. They can live independently, and dream big just like anyone else. Believe in yourself—God does!”
“BUILD has taught me a lot. I feel like I’m prepared to take on anything. This program has changed my life. Two years ago, I had zero confidence in who I was and what I wanted to do. Then I found out about this program and it changed my whole point of view. I came out of my shell. I’m really thankful for the people who’ve invested in me. This is a great community.”
On campus, Nathan Wong BUILD’22 is thriving, participating in numerous campus activities and impressing many with his biblical knowledge and faith.
BUILDing Relationships
Bethel quarterback Jaran Roste ’21, GS’24 has grown on and off the field through his relationships across campus, including in Bethel’s BUILD program. He's one of more than 100 mentors working with students in BUILD.
After a Bethel family opened a Dunn Brothers near campus, the comfy space quickly became a perfect training ground for interns from Bethel’s BUILD program.
