Biography

Dr. Ben Blasko is Associate Professor of Music, Director of Instrumental Activities, and conductor of the wind symphony at Bethel University. Ben holds degrees from the University of North Texas, Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and Messiah University. He has held positions at Lipscomb University, Messiah University, and the University of Dubuque. Ben has conducted groups such as the Nashville Symphony, the North Texas Wind Symphony, the Green Hills Wind Symphony, the Lipscomb Studio Orchestra, and the Agora Brass Ensemble. His music has been played all over the world by groups such as the Nashville, Boston, and Colorado Symphonies, the United States Air Force and Navy Bands, the Israeli State Band, the North Texas Wind Symphony, and numerous collegiate ensembles. Additionally, he has orchestrated music for OneRepublic, Tommee Profitt, Jordan Smith, Tina Guo, Colton Dixon, and Disney. You can find his work on the Naxos, Mark Custom, Klavier, Toccata Classics, and Capitol record labels.

As a recording engineer, Ben has recorded ensembles and artists such as the North Texas Wind Symphony, the University of Alabama Wind Ensemble, Oklahoma State University Wind Symphony, Tromba Mundi, members of the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, the Minnesota Orchestra Brass Quintet, the Grimethorpe Brass Band, tubist Alan Baer, and pianist Misha Dichter. Since 2023 he has served as the conductor of the wind ensemble at the Tennessee Governor's School for the Arts. Additionally, he was a quarterfinalist for the GRAMMY Music Educator Award in 2023.

His conducting teachers include Eugene Migliaro Corporon, Jack Stamp, Dennis Fisher, Brad Genevro, William Stowman, and Timothy Dixon. Ben has studied composition with Bruce Broughton, Jack Stamp, Kirsten Broberg, Bruce Yurko, and Alvin Singleton.
