Dr. Graciela Perez is a professor of Comparative Literature and Comparative Cultures happily joining Bethel University! She has taught, researched and actively engaged in conference presentations internationally in South America, USA and Europe. Her most recent publications include topics like: intercultural spaces, transcultural spaces, and trans literatures, ecocriticism, the transposition of Biblical images to the literary world, the dialogue of cultures among others. Dr. Graciela S. Perez, born in South America to a family of missionaries was brought up in contact with numerous ethnic groups, naturally developing a comparative approach to life within its multiple representations. Dr. Perez was educated within the American and European educational systems. Her interests and specializations are in language acquisition, French and Francophone Cultures and Literatures, Spanish language Acquisition, Spanish and Latin American Cultures and Literatures, Hospitality and Cultural and Literary Dialogues, Integration of Christian faith and secular literatures, Comparative Linguistics and Comparative Literatures, The Bible as literature. Her areas of research include: Comparative Studies of biblical images in The Bible and their transposition into literature, the relation of the History of the peoples and their Literatures, Identity in literature from multiple cultural and literary approaches, the transcultural world, Ecocriticism, Self and the other. She serves currently as Chair of the Languages and Cultures department at Bethel University and welcomes you to come and chat. Before coming to Bethel University, she served at Biola University, Pepperdine University and Fresno Pacific University. She likes to explore the fascinating Minnesotan landscapes, reading, cooking, engaging in conversations, mountain climbing, travelling and writing.
