Biography
Graham Taylor grew up in Irvine, California, where he began trumpet studies at age 11 and went on to perform concertos by Hummel and Arutunian as a young competition winner. He studied at Northwestern University with Vincent Cichowicz, Luther Didrickson, William Scarlett, and Barbara Butler, performing as principal trumpet in the Symphonic and Chamber Orchestras. He later earned a Master of Music degree from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music under David Burkhart.
Graham has performed with ensembles across the country, including the Pacific Symphony, Long Beach Symphony, Opera Parallèle, and in Los Angeles studio recordings. He has appeared with the Minnesota Orchestra, St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, Lakes Area Music Festival, and serves as principal trumpet with the Mankato and La Crosse Symphonies. His chamber music experience includes multiple summers at the Stockholm Chamber Brass Academy in Sweden.
As an educator, Graham has served on faculty at the Idyllwild Arts Academy, University of San Francisco, San Francisco Day School, and St. Paul Conservatory of Music. As of 2025, he is adjunct professor of trumpet at Luther College, Bethel University, and Macalester College.
He lives in Minneapolis with his wife, Alison, and their daughter, Waverly.

Outside of music, Graham enjoys traveling, cooking, roasting coffee, going to Orangetheory, drinking lots of espresso, attending great live concerts, and collecting vinyl records.
