My name is Dr. Jennifer Hoyte. I have been teaching mathematics from the time I left high school many moons ago. Over the years, I have acquired a BSc in Mathematics, MSc in Computer Science and PhD in Mathematics Education. Now I also teach computer technology. When not working, I am usually watching TV or playing games on my phone. I love Sudoku and solving logic puzzles.

Biography

Jennifer Hoyte has completed her Doctor of Philosophy in Mathematics Education  with a dissertation focus on - How the Use of Subjectivist Instructional Strategies in an Eighth Grade Algebra Class Relates to Algebra Achievement and Attitude Changes Towards Mathematics. She has an EdS – Educational Specialist in Curriculum and Instruction, a Master of Science in Computer and Information Science and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Computer and Information Science with distinction in Computer Science.

Her research interests include teaching methods, technology use for Mathematics in K-12 schools and higher education, and making online mathematics courses interactive and exploratory.

She has served as Mathematics and Computer Science Lecturer, Software Developer, Research Scientist, Software Development Manager, and Director of Systems & Programming. She also owns a Computer and Management Company serving global clients in the areas of corporate training, application systems development, support and project management, documentation development and internet/intranet development and support.

She has published articles in the area of mathematics education surrounding experiences of adults in algebra courses and how online algebra can be harnessed for developmental help.  Jennifer has also collaborated in research on movement in the learning of spatial reasoning, and presentations on virtual mathematics.
