Dr. Sambs served as director of curriculum and instruction in the Winona, Minn., school district and the Hudson, Wis., school district. Previously, he was principal and superintendent in the LaCrescent, Minn., school district. He was the high school principal in Idaho Springs, Colo., and began his career as a teacher in Wisconsin and Colorado.

Hobbies and Interests

Dr. Sambs and his wife, Judy, volunteer with Habitat for Humanity.  They spend every winter in southern states where they have helped to build over 115 homes in 10 different states. 

Chuck enjoys fishing, hunting and golf. 

Areas of expertise

In his nearly 35 years as an administrator at various levels, Dr. Sambs gained valuable experience in areas of leadership theory, curriculum design, professional development and site based decision making. His doctoral thesis involved studying inequities in the Colorado school finance formula which led to his continuing interest in school finance and related topics.
