Event Description

Project Ex is the 3rd annual professional and career development seminar for students in the College of Arts and Sciences. Our goal is to equip you for your career. Whether you are a first-year student still figuring out your major or a senior building your resume and negotiating a job offer.

Julie White, Keynote Speaker
Julie is an experienced and successful executive with more than 35 years of experience consulting with executives on personal and organizational effectiveness, building leadership competency and potential, and aligning people strategies with organizational strategies. She received a B.A. in English literature and political science from Bethel College and has completed graduate course work in Educational Psychology at the University of Minnesota. White currently sits on the Board of Trustees of Bethel University, the Board of Directors of Presbyterian Homes and Services, the Data Dimensions Advisory Board and the Iowa Health Care Collaborative Board of Directors.

This session will feature a panel of Bus/Econ department faculty from each of the major areas: accounting, business analysis and analytics, economics, entrepreneurship, finance, human resource management, international business, marketing, and leadership.

How To Make The Most Of Your College Years

Recommended for PSEO and Freshman | A panel of seniors will share recommendations and reflections about the best actions they took to prepare for their career and life after Bethel. Learn which activities and decisions can help you make the most of your time in college and set you up for future success.

Recommended for Sophomores and Juniors |  What does business casual really means? At this session, you’ll hear advice from recent graduates on how to look and act in a professional setting. They’ll share practical tips on professional attire, expectations of the workplace, and interacting with managers and executives.

Networking Made Easy

Recommended for Sophomores and Juniors |  Everyone knows that networking is important, but it may seem overwhelming! This session will teach you how to network in easy but highly effective ways. Informational interviews and mentoring with alumni will be discussed.

Recommended for Sophomores and Juniors | Have you ever wondered what it actually looks like to live out your faith at work? This session will feature of a panel of professionals who will share advice and examples of integrating faith and work.

Keys To Entering The Workforce

Recommended for Seniors |  When you start your career, there won’t be a syllabus defining expectations. At this session, alumni will share their insights and advice about how to start your career well.

Negotiating My First Job Offer

Recommended for Seniors | This session will provide an overview of the types of benefits commonly offered by employers and which are negotiable. You will learn strategies for negotiating salary and benefits. This session will include practice in negotiating.

How To Spend Your Paycheck

Recommended for Seniors |  Excited about your first paycheck?! Do you know how much will be taken out for taxes? At this session, you will see a realistic example of a budget and learn how much you can afford to save, spend, and give.
