Event Description

Looking Back, Moving Forward: Retrieving the Best of the Past”

Building on the speaker’s recent book Theology as Retrieval, the first lecture will show how rich insights and deep experiences from the past are essential resources for the church as it moves into the future with wisdom and courage.

Saturday, November 12 at 10:00 am (with free brunch)
Looking Outward: Serving the Needs of the World

This lecture will explain how “doing theology” involves first noticing and then responding to the needs of the world. By way of example it will describe outward-looking responses to such contemporary issues as creation care, the meaning of work, and social justice. A brief response from a local pastor-theologian will be followed by opportunity for general discussion.
