Professional Development Topic: Motivational Interviewing for Residence Life Professionals
Change is hard, and motivating others to change can be even more challenging. Presenter Lisa Wold will review strategies from the evidence-based counseling method of motivational interviewing (MI) that can be used to help elicit behavioral change. Lisa will cover the stages of change and share thoughts on how to support students at each stage. She will also explore the role that ambivalence plays in preventing behavioral change and provide practical strategies to work through ambivalence with your students. Lisa, a full-time clinician at Bethel University, is a licensed professional clinical counselor who has spent the past decade supporting college students in various stages of change.

Lunch options: Before the 1 p.m. meeting, you are welcome to enjoy lunch in Bethel's Monson Dining Center, conveniently located on Level 3 of Brushaber Commons. Cash, check, or credit card are accepted at this all-you-can-eat dining venue. Tavern Grill on Lexington Avenue is a popular off-campus lunch spot. There are also a number of restaurants in Roseville, just a few miles south of campus.
