Event Description

Are you interested in mentoring current Communication Studies and Journalism students at Bethel? You’re invited to join us for this Networking Mixer event to learn about a brand new program called COMMentor, a mentorship program initiated by current students who desire interaction with Bethel grads who have blazed the trail ahead of them. Come meet students, reconnect with other alumni from these departments, enjoy dessert, and share about your career in the communication field.

Even if you’re not quite sure this program is the right fit, we’d love to see you. Students would love to learn about your experiences, and it’s always a good time when you’re with your Bethel family again. We hope to see you there!

About COMMentor

The COMMentor program is designed to serve current Communication Studies and Journalism students by connecting them with working professionals in one-on-one, yearlong mentoring relationships. COMMentor seeks to create a relational network that furthers the professional development of our students.

If you’re interested in volunteering as a mentor, please fill out this form to let us know a little about you. Then, we’ll reach out to you! Please note that the information you share will be used in the pairing process to best align mentors’ experience and interests with those from our pool of mentees.

To become a mentor, we ask that you commit to a yearlong relationship with your mentee, meeting monthly during the academic year (beginning September 2018). We also ask that you complete a process update form each semester to let us know how the mentoring relationship is progressing. These updates will help us refine our process and recommend best practices in the future. Once you are paired with a mentee, the student will be responsible for reaching out to you at the beginning of the semester to set up meeting times. If desired, we can make available monthly talking points to get the relationship started.
