Event Description

The Bethel community and its friends are invited to the Bethel History Center's spring event:

Giving a Cup of Cold Water in Christ's Name
9:30-10 a.m. | Refreshments | $3
10-11 a.m. | Program | Free

Throughout Christian history, believers have found compelling ways to follow Jesus' teaching to care for the hungry, the thirsty, the stranger, the person needing clothes, the sick, the prisoners (see Matt. 25). They not only met needs of their neighbors by personal assistance, but often by banding together with other Christians to meet larger-scale needs in visionary ways.

Join us as Ron Dischinger traces some of the inspiring history of early social ministries in the U.S., particularly by individuals and churches of the Baptist General Conference, now known as Converge. We will also highlight several amazing and creative social ministries being carried out today by Converge churches in the Twin Cities. We will learn how they chose these ministries and some of the joys and challenges they have experienced.

If you have a social ministry story to tell, stop by our oral history table for a short interview before or after the program.

An offering will be received to further the ongoing work of the Friends of the History Center.
