Event Description
This is part of a series of gatherings designed to give pastors and ministry leaders the opportunity to learn from one another as we seek to develop whole-life disciples in our church communities. Each gathering focuses on a different topic and is facilitated by pastors who have especially considered how the topic shapes their approach to pastoring. Our topic at this gathering:
Putting Community Development into Practice
Find out why the local church must boldly share the message of salvation while also attending to the social dimensions of urban community development. Get practical ideas for blessing the city from a seasoned urban pastor and leader, and see how flourishing churches lead to flourishing communities.
Attend the Seminar
This gathering will draw on content from Pastor Christopher Brooks' July 12 seminar on urban apologetics. Learn more and register.
About Our Facilitator
Dr. Judy Austin is the executive pastor of Proverbs Christian Fellowship (PCF) in North Minneapolis. She has more than 20 years of experience as a transformational servant leader in urban ministry, and she is passionate about giving others meaningful opportunities to grow. Judy is the co-founder and administrator of the PCF Empowerment Institute, a school that provides religious education to ministry leaders who desire to attend seminary, university, or Bible college. The instructors are graduates of major institutions, and the course discussions are contextualized to address the unique needs of the African-American community and other minority groups. Judy was formerly the dean of student activities at Hope Academy, a private inner-city K-12 Christian school in Minneapolis.
