Event Description
The Department of Social Work cordially invites you to its annual Field Appreciation Luncheon in honor of your contributions to the professional development of a Bethel Social Work student.
Rev. Wheatley will contribute to the celebration with an entertaining talk entitled "A threefold cord is not easily broken: The strength of an interdisciplinary approach" reminding us of the significance of inter-professional relationships.
Rev Wheatley attended Concordia College in Moorhead and the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago, where he wrote his thesis on death and mortality in the thought of Soren Kierkegaard. He has served as a chaplain within various hospitals, with Veterans' Affairs, an HIV/AIDS house, and two hospices, one of which he helped create. He has worked alongside various medical professionals to greater and lesser success, and has been supervising hospice social workers for five years. He currently leads a group in which chaplains and social workers engage in a monthly case study to learn from each other and see the differences and similarities between their approaches and disciplines.
