Event Description
To combat a record number of opioid overdoses, the Ramsey County Sheriff's Office, County Attorney's Office, local law enforcement, schools, the Know the Truth prevention program, and other local organizations have come together to facilitate a community education forum. This event is focused on building awareness of local drug trends, specifically the opioid crisis. The goal is to bring the community together to learn ways to communicate with individuals who are struggling with substance use, and to develop tools to keep loved ones safe from the devastation that addiction can cause to family and community.
This free public event offers CEU credits for the Board of Behavioral Health, Nursing, Social Work, and Education.
The evening also includes:
- A resource fair featuring local organizations that offer services for treatment and mental health
- A drug take-back event for safe disposal of unused or unwanted prescriptions
- A "Cracking the Code" interactive exhibit featuring a teen bedroom with hidden dangers and a virtual jail cell--giving attendees an opportunity to hear how quickly addiction can overtake a life
