Event Description
The role of the contemporary church goes beyond just evangelism and teaching. Those things matter deeply, but so does the connection between the church and the broader community. Our churches should be leading the way to helping others flourish.
This online session looks at one pastor's vision for what the church can do to engage with the world. Find out how work and vocation can be gateways for relationship with those outside our congregations.
We'll consider how the church can:
- Build bridges with the community
- Encourage flourishing in schools
- Engage with and affirm business
- Develop cross-sector collaborations
Plus, see how God affirms ALL kinds of work as valuable. No matter what job we do, our contribution has kingdom significance.
About Our Guest Speaker
Bill Berg is the lead pastor at New Hope Community Church in both Cambridge and Isanti, Minnesota. He is also a leader in the Converge North Central denomination. A self-avowed cheesehead, Bill grew up in Wisconsin and earned his undergraduate degree in K-12 education from the University of Wisconsin-Lacrosse. He completed a Masters of Divinity degree at Bethel Seminary and has served as the vice chair of the Seminary Alumni Council for the past six years. Bill is married to Cherie, has four awesome daughters, and enjoys the liquid or frozen water--depending on the season--at his lakefront home.
