Event Description

6 - 7 p.m. | Business Meeting for CAPS, Sem, and GS

7 - 8 p.m. | Faculty Professional Development (7 - 7:30 p.m. and 7:30 - 8 p.m. Breakout Sessions)

With a goal of continuing discussion and dialogue, we are revisiting the content of two breakout sessions from the Fall Retreat.

  1. “Good Job”: Tips for Authentic and Constructive Feedback on Student Assignments (led by Laura Gilbertson and Jessica Daniels at Fall Retreat)
  2. Communication Skills That Facilitate Dialogue Over Debate (led by Christine Osgood at Fall Retreat)

A brief overview will be given of the sessions' primary contents and key concepts, followed by a small panel of faculty who will share how they are applying their learnings in the classroom since attending the breakout session in August. Our goal is to strengthen classroom communications by diving deeper into these topics.

Thirty minutes will be dedicated towards each session (7 - 7:30 p.m. and 7:30 - 8 p.m.)

  • 10 minutes - Presenter gives a high-level overview of what was presented at Fall Retreat
  • 20 minutes - A small faculty panel presents some of the key concepts learned and how they are applying them in the classroom
