Event Description

This event is for young women who have finished 10th or 11th grade. The goal of this camp is to encourage young women to be confident in their laboratory experiences and motivate them to pursue a career in the sciences. Most students understand clinical research with humans or even laboratory animals such as mice and rats, but not many have been exposed to cultured cells or plant biochemistry. In a brand new state-of-the-art science facility, students will perform hands-on experiments such as: fluorescence microscopy, ELISA, flow cytometry, and GC/MS.

This is an overnight camp. Exact schedule will be shared at a later date.

Overnight accommodation will be provided in Lissner Hall. Housing is suite-style with each suite having 3 bedrooms, a living area, a private bathroom with separate rooms for toilet/showers, and a vanity area. Each bedroom has 2 twin XL beds, 2 desks and chairs, and a wardrobe. Students will be housed with other students from their camp, with up to 6 students per suite. Roommate requests can be emailed to conference-event@bethel.edu. Students will be supervised by a Bethel Resident Director and a team of overnight Hosts hired from our pool of Bethel Student Resident Assistants.
